Obituary for Richard G. Walker Richard G. Walker, 71, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Deaconess Gateway. He was born February 21, 1947 in Evansville to the late Dorothy (Judges) and Wilbur Walker. Rick was a 1964 graduate of Reitz Memorial High School and attended Indiana State University and Indiana University.

He served two terms in the US Marine Corps during Vietnam in the First Force Reconnaissance Company where he was highly decorated and received the Bronze Star for Valor. Rick coached swimming at Lorraine pool in Evansville, at Indiana University under Doc Counsilman during the Mark Spitz era, and in Sarasota, Florida. He was an ordained minister in Florida for 20 years where he and his wife, Sheri, pastored together.

Rick and Sheri‘s passion was for street ministry and helping inner-city children. Rick was a loving husband, father, and brother and truly enjoyed spending time with his family. Rick is survived by his sons, Mark (Lisa) Walker of Wichita, KS, Chris (Bridget) Rork of Atlanta, GA, and Steve Rork of Seminole, FL; Daughter, Robin (David) Vuchinich of St. Petersburg, FL; brothers, Bob (Terri) Walker of Evansville and Mike (Shirley) Walker of Haubstadt; Sisters, Joyce (Nick) Scott, Susie (Chuck) Walker-Evans, and Beth Walker, all of Evansville; 6 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sheri Walker. Visitation will be from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave. A memorial service will begin at 12:00 pm at the funeral home with Reverend Patrick Garcia officiating and The Marine Corps League will conduct military rites.

Burial will be at Florida National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to Crossroads Christian Church, Highlight Mission, 10800 Lincoln Ave. , Newburgh, IN 47630.
