Koestler – Richard G., “Dick”, 83, Johnstown, passed away March 20, 2019, peacefully at home. Born January 5, 1936, in Johnstown, the son of the late John Phillip Koestler and Anna Louise (Blackner) Martinovich. Preceded in death by brothers: John “Jack”, Robert, and David, stepfather, Douglas Martinovich, and two grandchildren.

Survived by loving wife Mary (Scott), brother Donald (Sharon; California) and children: Michael (Brenda; Blairsville), Richard (Philadelphia), Kurt, Jill (J.R. Halapia), Stephanie (Edwin Sosa; North Huntingdon), and Mary Lynn (Shawn Taresco). Richard is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Jacob, Amanda, Kyle, Tyler, Zachary, Kiersten, Jessie Halapia, Abram & Aramis Sosa, one step grandchild, Nicole Kerin, and previous wife Audrey (Kimmick). Richard enlisted in the United States Marine Corp.

at the age of 18, retired from The Johnstown & Stony Creek Rail Road Company, and operated his painting business until he was 78 years old. Richard was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His passion was riding motorcycles, he was a skilled craftsman, and devoted his time to being with his family.

Friends will be received Friday from 4-7 pm at John Henderson Company Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave. A private burial will be held at St. John Cemetery. www.
