Obituary for Richard R. “Dick” Deshler Richard R. “Dick” Deshler, 89 EAST LIVERPOOL – Richard R. “Dick” Deshler, of Wellsville, passed away Thursday morning, December 20, 2018 at the East Liverpool City Hospital. He was 89. Born in Wellsville, January 8, 1929, he was a son of the late Earl and Laura Johnson Deshler and a member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1947.
A lifetime area resident, he had worked at the former TS&T Pottery and Hall China. In 1974, Dick started operating Deshler Amusements and provided rides, concessions and games to countless area fairs and festivals for many years. He was an avid Ohio State and Cleveland Browns fan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret A. Cunningham Deshler. The couple married July 1, 1950. He was also preceded in death by five sisters, Dorothy Deshler, Eleanor Deshler, Christine Montgomery, Erla Dean Emmerling and Alberta Massey.
Left to cherish his memory are three daughters, Linda Goodballet and her husband, Barry, of Encinitas, California, Ruth Stansbury and her husband, Buzz, of Wellsville, and Diana Deshler and her husband, Rick Cable, of East Liverpool; and a son, Rick E. Deshler and his wife, Carolyn, of Wellsville. There are 11 grandchildren: Jennifer Davidson, Casey Collins, Kiley Deshler May, Jake Stansbury, Devon Deshler, Jesse Stansbury, Kyle Jones, Joshua Stansbury, Mandy Jones O’Brien, Dylan Jones and Laura Goodballet; as well as 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Friends may visit Thursday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
