PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA – William G. “Bill” Cornell, 65, of East Liverpool passed away Sunday, January 20, 2019 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA after a lengthy illness. Bill was born in Lackawanna, NY on October 17, 1953 a son of the late William and Margaret “Pat” Delaney Cornell. He graduated from Lackawanna High School in Lackawanna, NY.

Bill also graduated with business degrees from Kent State University and Geneva College. Bill owned and operated his own consulting business CorCon Solutions, LLC where he did consulting work for construction companies. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish at St. Aloysius.

Bill was a huge advocate for CORE (Center for Organ Recovery and Education) and their efforts with organ donation. Bill benefited from a life-saving double lung transplant in 2014 which gave him precious time with his pride and joy, his grandchildren. Bill’s family will always cherish the time given to them from his donor and donor family.

He was proud to be a gold medalist in golf at the Transplant Games of America. Bill was good to people and made everyone around him better. Everything he did; he did for his family.

Surviving are his three children Carrie (Brian) Howren of Las Vegas, NV, William G. “Bill” (Kristina) Cornell, Jr. of Clinton, PA and Eric (Courtney) Cornell of East Liverpool; seven grandchildren Noah, Conner and Liam Howren, Olivia, Elyse, Alana and Logan Cornell; three sisters Kathy (Tony) Grucello of Cape Coral, FL, Debbie Miller of Cape Coral, FL and Barbara “Barbie” (Brian) Hayden of Bonita Springs, FL and brother Tim Cornell and his late wife Mary of Fort Myers, FL. Friends may visit Wednesday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Parish at St. Aloysius Church on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Fr. Scott Kopp as celebrant.
