Richard C. Reilly, age 81, of Deerfield passed away peacefully on June 11, 2018, at the University of Michigan Hospital after a long battle with cancer. He was born Jan. 31, 1937, in Ida, Mich.

, to Earl and Gertrude (Kirkman) Reilly. On Jan. 21, 1956, he married Donna Weasel of Deerfield.

She survives. Richard went to work for Tecumseh Products before retiring from Cargotainer. He enjoyed his time with the race horses he owned and trained for 45 years.

Besides his wife, Donna, he leaves behind three siblings, Bob (Dort) Reilly of Ida, Joyce Fling of Tennessee and Jim Reilly of Monroe; one daughter, Phyllis (Jeff) Petee; one son, Mark (Mel) Reilly; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. At Richard’s request cremation has taken place. The family will have a celebration of life at a later date.
