Richard W. Aumiller, 71, of Marion, passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018, at his home. A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marion. Burial will be at a later date at Elmwood Cemetery in Flora, Illinois.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at the church. Memorial contributions can be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marion. Richard was born on May 12, 1947, in Olney, Illinois, to Frank L. and Maggie Frances (Griffith) Aumiller.

He married Deborah A. Thoele on February 19, 1977, in Teutopolis, Illinois. He is survived by his wife, Deborah Aumiller of Marion; sons, Riley (Sommer) Aumiller of Maui, Hawaii and Robert (Michelle) Aumiller of Harrisburg; daughter, Allison Aumiller (fiancé, Jonathan Holzapfel) of Sedalia, Kentucky; grandchildren, John Harn, Norah Aumiller, Deanna Aumiller, Amora Aumiller, and Emmitt Aumiller; and several cousins. Richard was preceded in death by his parents.

He honorably served his county in the U.S. Marine Corp as a L Cpl. Richard worked in manufacturing for several companies including General Dynamics, Tums, and Roadmasters. He was a faithful member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marion.

He was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed NASCAR and street rods. Most of all, Richard loved spending time with his family. Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville assisted the family with cremation services.
