Obituary for Rinky Bernard Irene “Rinky” Bernard, age 88, passed away on October 31, 2018. Rinky was born on December 16, 1929 to Frank and Anne Rossman in Cumbola, Pennsylvania. She was the only child.

Rinky went to Dominican High School in Detroit. Rinky met the love of her life, Robert Bernard, at a party. They dated for 10 days before Robert asked for her hand in marriage.

Irene and Robert spent 67 wonderful years together. Rinky was a secretary at Oakland Community College in Auburn Hills for 25 years until she retired. She enjoyed life, loved to laugh, and she was known for making people smile.

Rinky is survived by her cherished husband Robert, her treasured daughter Cheryl (Ian) Love, and her two loving grandchildren, Nathan and Emily. She is preceded in death by her parents, her son Edward Allen Bernard, and her daughter René Marie Bernard. Rinky’s family will receive friends on Sunday, November 4, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Wm.

Sullivan and Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Road (3 blocks East of Van Dyke), Utica. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Kieran Catholic Church, 53600 Mound Road, Shelby Township on Monday, November 5, 2018 with instate beginning at 10:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
