Obituary for Rita J. Pernatozzi Griglak Rita J. Pernatozzi Griglak, 91, of Connellsville, passed away early Sunday morning, Jan. 6, 2019, surrounded by her family, after a short illness at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh. She was born Dec.
17, 1927 and lived her entire life in Connellsville where she was a graduate of Dunbar Township High School with the class of 1945. After graduation, she worked as a secretary in the school’s office. She met Martin S. Griglak a few years after graduating and they were married in 1949.
They remained married until Martin’s passing in 2014, after 65 years. During that time they traveled extensively to many countries all over the world. They have four children, Nancy Radlosky (William) of Connellsville, Martin J. Griglak (Karen) of Solana Beach, CA, James Griglak of Los Angeles, CA and Janet Griglak of New Kensington.
She also has 4 grandchildren, Ryan Radlosky, Brad Radlosky and wife Kristen, Daryl Griglak and husband Josh Bloch, and Stevie Griglak, and 2 great-grandchildren,Wyatt and Harder. She was pre-deceased by her parents Nicholas and Marietta LaPorte Pernatozzi, her brother Msgr. Joseph Pernatozzi, and her sisters Frances (Pernatozzi) Buffers and Antoinette (Pernatozzi) Bednarik.
Rita was a life-long member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church and a long standing member of it’s Christian Mothers. She bowled in a women’s league at Yough Lanes for 62 years until the month before her death. She also volunteered as a cashier at the snack bar at Connellsville Hospital for 25 years.
She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan, never missing a game on TV or listening on the radio. Family and friends will be received Wed. from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Brooks Funeral Home Inc., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, (724-628-1430) where Prayers of Transition will be held Thur.
at 9:30 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass to be held at 10:00 AM in St. Rita’s R.C. Church, Connellsville, with her nephew Rev. John Bednarik and Rev. Robert Lubic as co-celebrants.
A committal service and interment will follow in St. Rita’s Cemetery, Connellsville Twp. St. Rita’s Christian Mothers will conduct a service Wed. at 3:30 PM in the funeral home.
