Robert “Bob” D. Walters of Warsaw, Indiana passed away unexpectedly at 1:24 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2018 at the age of 84 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born on January 7, 1934 in Silver Lake, Indiana to Claude D. Walters and Mildred (Christner) Walters. On December 31, 1955 he was married to Patricia Overmyer, she passed away on January 2, 1972.

He remarried on April 17, 1999 to Judith Ann (Clabaugh) Whitaker Lease Walters, who survives. Bob was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, Indiana where he was a 1952 graduate of Warsaw High School. He was inducted into the U.S. Marine Corps on July 1, 1952 and was a Korean War Veteran.

He proudly served until his honorable discharge on June 30, 1955. He worked for the Warsaw Post Office for 30 years until he retired in 1989. Bob attended New Beginnings Church and World Outreach, Warsaw, Indiana, and was a member of the American Legion Post #49 and V.F.W. #1126 both of Warsaw.

Bob will be dearly missed and forever loved by his family and friends. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 19 years, Judith “Judy” Ann Walters (Warsaw, Indiana); son: Robert D. (wife Kim) Walters II (Chicago, Illinois); daughter: Elizabeth Blanchard (Thibodaux, Louisiana); two step-sons: Rick (wife Becky) Whitaker (Warsaw, Indiana); Rodney (wife Vickie) Whitaker (Akron, Indiana); and his step-daughter: Debbie (husband Kenneth) Roberts (Ashtabula, Ohio). He also leaves behind 3 grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and 13 step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Patricia Overmyer Walters, and his sister Charlotte “Char” Smith. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana. His funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by Pastor Ronnie Patrick and Pastor Kenneth Roberts.

Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw with full military rites conducted by the American Legion Post #49, V.F.W. #1126 both of Warsaw, and active duty representatives of the Marine Honor Guard. Memorial donations in Bob’s memory may be directed to New Beginnings Church and World Outreach, P.O. Box 913, Warsaw, Indiana 46581 and would be appreciated by the family.
