Wyoming – Robert “Bob” Meaker, 90, of Wyoming, passed away at 9:55 a.m. on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at his residence. Bob was born on March 14, 1928, in Wyoming, to LeRoy and Elsie (Murray) Meaker. He married Regena M. Hancher on June 12, 1949 at the First Congregational UCC of Wyoming.

Surviving are one son, Rucker (Svetlana) Meaker of Wyoming; one daughter, Sally (John) Guth of Washington; seven grandchildren, Shawna (JP) McLaughlin, Eric Meaker, Paul Kitterman, Joshua Kitterman,… Read More » Kara Kitterman, Tanya (Richard) Webber and Julia (Bill) Ross; two great-grandchildren, Taylen McLaughlin and Karina Ross. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Eloise (Clement) Finck. Bob graduated from Wyoming High School.

He loved sports and participated in football, basketball, track and baseball, playing with the Valley Mud Cats for many years. He served in the U.S. Army in the Corp of Engineers. He was a member of the First Congregation UCC of Wyoming serving on the Board of Trustees, Board of Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent.

Bob also served on the Stark County Farm Bureau and was a former member of the Pork Producers. He was a 65 year member of the Wyoming Lions Club in which he received the Melvin Jones Fellow award for dedicated humanitarian services. He was also a member of the Stark/Henry County Regional Board of School Trustees from 1961-1993, the Rock Island Property Owners Association and the Wyoming American Legion Post #91.

He served as chairman on the Board of Cross Creek Terrace IV Condo Association in Florida. Farming was his main interest in which he made a successful career. He loved tilling the soil, raised hogs for many years and was among the first to build a hog confinement set up.

Bob’s church, family, relatives and friends meant very much to him. He quietly believed in helping others. His greatest joy is his family and his wife.

Bob’s funeral will be on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational UCC of Wyoming. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Rev.

Matthew Noffke will officiate. A private burial will be at a later date. Haskell-Hott Funeral Homes in Wyoming is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to his church or Wyoming Lions Club. Condolences may be left for Bob’s family on his tribute wall at www. haskellhott.com.
