Robert “Bob” Carl Murdock, 82, of Champaign, Illinois passed away Friday, September 14, 2018 at home. A visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 24th at Renner-Wikoff Chapel & Crematory, 1900 S. Philo Rd. , Urbana.

Funeral services will be held immediately following the visitation at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Debra Joy Hart will officiate. Burial will be held at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Champaign.

Bob was born January 12, 1936 in Urbana, Illinois to parents Maude E. (Schonert) Stuart and Robert S. Murdock; they preceded him death. Survivors include two sons, Robert “Rob” Murdock (Catherine Novak), of Urbana, and Michael Murdock (Susan), of Colorado Springs, sister, Betty Schmall, of Mahomet, three grandchildren, Rob Murdock (Allie), Kate Murdock, and Justin Novak, and one-month-old great-grandson, Owen. Mr. Murdock graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Electrical Engineering, before serving in the United States Army, from which he was honorably discharged.

He retired from the Operations and Maintenance Division of the U of I as the Chief Electrical Engineer after a career spanning more than 30 years. Bob had many interests, including genealogy, model railroading, puzzles (such as the Rubiks cube), and Champaign history. He was also an active participant in Minds in Motion, a local program for seniors.
