GUILDERLAND – Robert Edgar Tallman, 79, was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, papa and friend. He passed away peacefully at his home on November 7, 2018. Born at home in Rotterdam, NY, on September 1, 1939, to the late Edgar & Roberta (Cook) Tallman, he grew up and was educated there.

Bob then served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957-1961 and was stationed at Loring Air Force Base near Limestone, Maine. While in the service he met the love of his life, Barb, and they were married there on July 1, 1961. It was a true partnership that found them rarely apart for the next 57 years.

Bob worked for Stark Oil Company in Schenectady, NY for many years until he was forced to retire for health reasons. He kept busy during his retirement taking up woodworking and crafted many beautiful pieces of furniture. His craftsmanship is still on display in his home, as well as his children’s homes.

He was a true do it yourselfer, putting himself into every project until it was done to his satisfaction and always willing to pass on his wealth of knowledge in electrical, plumbing and any other type of construction to friends and family, helping them in any way he could. An avid fan of the New York Yankees, Bob always sported a Yankee hat, shirt or jacket. He loved family gatherings, attending his grandchildren’s school and sporting events, talking to his tomato farm so they would grow better and sweets, especially when homemade by family and friends.

He was a true gentleman who led by example and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
