Robert “Bob” Emmett Jarrett, 91, of Scott Depot, West Virginia passed peacefully unto the Lord on May 17th, 2019 with his family by his side. He was the first-born of Robert Emmett Sr. and Lottie Jarrett on May 4th, 1928 in Charleston, West Virginia. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nellie “Charlie”, parents, Robert Sr. and Lottie, brothers, Charles and Frank, and sisters, Betty and Ruth-Ann.

He is survived by his sister Jacqueline Mathieu and brother Gary Jarrett, his two children, Catherine Jarrett Zekan (Dr. Steve Zekan) of Charleston and Robert Michael Jarrett of Scott Depot. He is also survived by his nephew buddies Chris Comer of Scott Depot, John Comer of Miami, Florida, sister-in-law, Imogene Pridemore, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Jarrett was a faithful member of Teays Valley Presbyterian Church in Scott Depot.

Bob served in the US Army as an enlisted Infantryman in both World War II and the Korean War before returning home to Charleston, WV, where he worked for the Charleston Daily Mail. The majority of his career was spent as a Distribution Manager at Union Carbide, where he worked for 42 years prior to his retirement. He was instrumental in the development of the Union Carbide HELP team.

Bob was a tremendous athlete, having played on the Red’s farm team. He enjoyed playing a leisurely game of golf, as well as spending time in his yard and garden. His love for the West Virginia Mountaineers was unmatched.

The family would like to thank Kanawha Valley Hospice, Dr. Nathan Hale, and the outstanding staff of the fifth floor Oncology unit at CAMC Memorial Hospital. Mr. Jarrett will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife of fifty-seven years at Cunningham Memorial Park with a private graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in his name to Kanawha Valley Hospice, 1606 Kanawha Blvd W. Charleston, WV 25387.
