Robert (Bob) Parsons, 96, departed for Heaven on Friday, February 22 at Newburgh Health Care. He leaves behind an amazing legacy. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on May 9, 1922 to Sarah & Scott Parsons.

His prodigious memory showed itself even as a child, when he read the entire dictionary. After graduating from Juniata College in 1943 with a Bachelor’s in Chemistry, he found a job with Alcoa in New Kensington, PA. He met the love of his life, Dorothy Grosz, and they married in 1949.

March 4th would have marked their 70th wedding anniversary. This marriage produced four children. The family moved to Evansville in 1960 when he was transferred by Alcoa to become Chief Chemist for the new plant in Warrick County.

Later he was appointed their first Environmental Manager. In 1982 he retired from Alcoa after 40 years. He then worked for Automated Office Solutions, retiring in 2018, at age 96, as Vice President.

He was adored by all who knew him. He had a brilliant mind and was the most gentle, patient, and kind person. He had a rare wit.

He loved words and passed that attribute on to his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 70 years. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Dorothy; sister, Betty Pytlik; four children, Kathryn Savia (Alfred), Robert G. (Susan), Scott R. (Laura), and Donald G. (Lisa); seven granddaughters, Laura Savia (Yoann), Juliana Clayton (David), Stephanie, Stacie Schalasky (Joe), Sierra, Sarah, Aden; and one great-grandson, Hunter.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave. A Celebration of Life will follow at 1:30 pm at the funeral home.
