Robert Roble July 25, 1936 – December 30, 2018 Robert Roble, 82, of Sioux Falls passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls on Sunday, December 30, 2018. A memorial service will begin at 11 am on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Visitation with family present will begin at 10 am.

Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Robert Roble was born July 25, 1936 in Sturgeon Bay, WI to Harold and Florence Roble. He grew up and attended school in Sturgeon Bay graduating from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1954.

He graduated from Luther College in 1958 then later acquired his Master’s Degree from Mankato State University. On June 10, 1961 Robert married Barbara Nokes at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Butternut, MN. Born: July 25, 1936 Death: December 30, 2018 Robert’s career included a faculty position at Luther College in Decorah, IA and elementary school administration in Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Upon receiving a scholarship, Bob spent two months at the East/West Center, University of Hawaii, Honolulu in 1962. He studied the elementary school system during a January term in London, England. In the summer of 1977, Bob received a Fulbright scholarship allowing him to study the culture throughout India.

As a result of his interest in other cultures, he concluded his educational career on the White Earth Indian Reservation. Bob participated in civic organizations including the Lions Club, Sons of Norway and was currently a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Bob enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting and hosting family and friends in Northern Minnesota.

Grateful for sharing Robert’s life are his wife, Barbara Roble; his children, Jennifer (John) Lammert, Gretchen (Alan) Hudacek, Craig (Jen) Roble, and Alison (Eric) Sahly; 11 grandchildren, Emily Lammert, Annika (Lammert) Zallek, Hannah (Lammert) Farnsworth, Zachary Roble, Elijah Roble, Madeline Roble, Kaija Hudacek, Elli Hudacek, Kristian Hudacek, Emma Sahly, and Samuel Sahly; and one sister, Mary Ellen Larson. Robert was proceeded in death by his parents and his brothers Roger and Richard Roble. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Prairie Creek for their care of Robert as well as the staff at Good Samaritan Village.
