Robert Temple September 8, 1952 – December 30, 2018 Sioux Falls – Robert Temple, 66, died Sunday, December 30, 2018 at the Dougherty Hospice House following a brief battle with cancer. He is preceded in death by his parents Martin and Ruth (Klos) Temple, sister Darlene Temple, and infant daughter Stephanie Temple. He is survived by his daughter Lisa Pearson, his son Eric Temple, former wife Debra Meggett, sisters Marlys Knutson, Carol Angerhofer, and Sharon Strampe, and five grandchildren.

Born in Clearlake, South Dakota and raised on a farm in Castlewood, SD. He was a graduate of Castlewood High School (1970). After graduating High School he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served until 1980.

He attended Aviation Fire Control Technician school in Millington, TN. His first duty assignment was with VF-31, The Tomcatters, where he repaired the radar and weapon control systems of the F-14 Tomcat. While attached to the squadron he deployed onboard the USS Saratoga (CV-60) where they represented the United States for the 1976 bicentennial celebration.

His final station was with a shore based F-14 Tomcat training squadron in San Diego, CA where he achieved the rank of First Class Petty Officer. Born: September 8, 1952 Death: December 30, 2018 Upon separation from the Navy he returned to Watertown, SD and worked with the Department of Energy. He would work for the Department of Energy until 2012, with the final years working out of Loveland, CO.

Once he retired from government service he continued to work in the energy industry with Wind Energy, Austin, TX. He finally retired from the work force in 2018 when he returned to Sioux Falls, SD to be closer to family. Mr. Temple had a passion for repairing and building things.

He would spend numerous hours renovating the houses he and his family lived in. He was also an avid electronics buff, spending time to learn about the latest technologies and keeping pace with the modern technologies. When he did have free time, he would spend it on the golf course for simple relaxation.

A funeral service will be held 3 January, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home.
