Obituary for Roger A Meyer Roger Aurelius Meyer, 85, of Lake City, passed away on Monday, December 24, 2018 at the Lake City Care Center. He was born September 28, 1933 to Aurelius C. Meyer and Laura H. (Thomforde) Meyer in Mt. Pleasant Township, Wabasha County.

He attended country school at St. Peter’s Lutheran Parochial and graduated from Lincoln High School in Lake City in 1950. He worked (farming) with his uncle Charles Augustine and for his dad Aurelius Meyer. He married Kathleen Rosenberg on June 5, 1954 at Bethel Covenant Church, Ellsworth, Wisconsin.

He went into the Army on June 29th, 1954, after boot camp & quartermaster training he was stationed in Korea for 18 months and returned home to the farm in 1956. After some years in the Army Reserves he was honorable discharged from the Army on July 31, 1962. Roger became a Lake City School Bus Driver for 41 years, during that time he owned and operated a Milk Truck business, worked for Tom Heffernan Ford and drove a roll off truck for Hagedon’s Lake City Recycling.

He retired from bus driving in May 2010. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Meyer of Lake City, three sons, Scot (Jean) Meyer of Lake City, Brad (Cheryl Ross) Meyer of Red Wing, Rodney (Kim) Meyer of St. Louis Park, daughter-in-law, Julie (Steve Gnotke) Meyer of Lake City, one sister, Marlys Liebeg of Red Wing, 10 grandchildren, Andy (Amanda) Meyer, Jessica (Jason) Holst, Jason (Ashley) Meyer, Ashley (Danny) Gilles, Jesse (Denise) Ross, Jeremy Meyer, Jacob (Brianna Barsness) Meyer, Tanisha (Josh) Wise, Samantha Meyer and Sophia Meyer, and 13 great grandchildren. He is proceeded in death by his parents, his son Bruce Meyer, a stillborn twin son, brother Burton Meyer, sister in law Nat Meyer, brother in law Fredrick Liebeg.

A Memorial service will be held at St. Peter’s Belvidere Lutheran Church on Saturday December 29, 2018 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Steve Frentz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Military Honors will be handled by Lake City VFW Post 8729 and American Legion Post 110. Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
