Obituary for Gail Janet Wells Gail Janet Wells, 79 of Welch, died Saturday, December 22, 2018 at her home in Tinta Wita Tipi Care Center with her husband of 22 years by her side. She was born May 13, 1939 in Minneapolis to George and Gladys (Anderson) Wannebo. She grew up in Minneapolis and attended Roosevelt High School.

She went on to earn an associate degree from Normandale College. She made her home in Edina and there she raised three children. Once her children were grown, she moved to Red Wing to be closer to her grandchildren.

There, in 1996, she met Howard Wells. After seeing her around Howard worked up the courage to ask her out on a date. In 1998 they were united in marriage and excited to have finally met his one-and-only, Howard threw her an epic wedding.

The couple made their home together in the Prairie Island Community. In August of this year they moved to Tinta Wita Tipi, becoming some of the first residents. Gail enjoyed playing board games, bingo and cards.

She was a talented knitter and seamstress. However, her favorite time was time spent with her grandchildren. Gail will be remembered for her kindness and unfailing generosity.

She will be missed by many, including her husband, Howard; children, Susan (John) O’Connell, Mark (Amy) Westergarrd and Kristin Wannebo; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, other family and many friends. She is preceded in death by sister, Norma Jean Sadek; brother, Don Wannebo; nephew, Robert Sadek, Jr. and her parents. Funeral service will be 12 noon, Saturday, December 29, 2018 at United Lutheran Church with Pastor Karl Rydholm officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be at the Prairie Island Community Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to The Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in La Crosse, Wisconsin or Covenant House New York.
