Roger D. Bailey, 63, of S. Lake Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018 after a battle with cancer. Visitation will be 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 PM, Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico, with Rick McKean officiating.

Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Roger D. Bailey was born September 21, 1955 in Madison, West Virginia to Claudine Carson and Laura Bell (Lehman) Bailey. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1973 and attended mechanic trade school.

Roger worked for Goodyear in Albuquerque and after returning to Carlsbad he worked at Triple A Muffler. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and riding horses. Roger loved all kinds of cars, especially Mustang’s and ’55 Chevys.

Listening to rock & roll and watching westerns was another favorite pastime. Roger was preceded in death by his father, Claudine C. Bailey and brother, Phillip Wayne “Butch” Bailey. Survivors are his mother, Laura Bailey of Carlsbad, NM; daughter, Shawna McKinsey and husband, Jeff of Gillette, Wyoming; grandchildren: Colton, Triston, Dalton and Kaitlynn; sisters: Jeannie Gibson of Carlsbad, NM, Connie Hunt and husband, Reed of Cloudcroft, NM; uncle, Bob Bailey and numerous nieces and nephews.
