Izora “Kay” Oakley was born November 16, 1941 to William “Bryan” Maxey and Mildred “Bernita” (O’Neal) Maxey outside of Post, Texas and went to be with the Lord on September 28, 2018 while surrounded by her family here in Carlsbad. Memorial services are scheduled for Friday, October 5, 2018, 11:00 AM, at Sunset Church of Christ with Michael Joiner and Brian McGonagill officiating. Kay met David Alan Oakley at Lubbock Christian College and they were married on October 6, 1962.

They were blessed with three children; Lori Kay, Kristi Michelle and David Ken. Dave and Kay have resided in Carlsbad for the past 35 years. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Joshua Oakley, brothers Simeon Maxey and Don Maxey and sister Nita Booth.

She is survived by her husband David Oakley of Carlsbad, New Mexico; daughters; Lori Craig and husband Scott of Lubbock, Texas; Kristi Oakley of Lubbock, Texas; and son; David Oakley and wife Alese of Idaho Falls, Idaho; grandchildren; Jacob Hickey, Haley Hickey, Kaitlyn Pruet and husband Benton, Kyle Viney, Bryan Viney, Kimberly Viney, Zoe Oakley, Quinn Oakley, Allison Craig and Nicholas Craig. Brother; Franklin Maxey and wife Naomi of Corpus Cristi, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank the staff at Goodlife Senior Living and Lakeview Christian Home Hospice for the special care they gave Kay.

Also, many thanks to the friends that visited and sang to Kay in the last days of her life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Southwest Parkinson’s Society, 3610 22nd St., Lubbock, Texas 79401 or Lubbock Christian Children’s Home, 4404 Idalou Rd. , Lubbock, Texas 79403.
