OBITUARY Roger E. Dugas December 5, 1929 – December 5, 2018 It is with great sadness that the family of Roger E. Dugas, of Newburyport, MA and formerly of Marblehead, MA announce his passing on December 5, 2018 (his 89th birthday). Roger was born in Lynn, MA to Joseph A. Dugas and Anne E. (Hartnett) Dugas. He was the youngest of five children (Ruth, Antoinette, Paul and Laurence) who preceded him in death.

After graduating from Lynn English High School, Roger pursued his love of mechanical engineering and graduated from Tufts University (Magna Cum Laude) and later Northeastern University (Cum Laude) before beginning his career. He worked at Chrysler Corporation in Detroit, MI as well as American Cyanamid in Hingham, MA before he joined General Electric Corporation in Lynn, MA where he spent more than 40 years designing turbine engines for military and commercial aircraft. Roger’s greatest love was his wife of 65 years, Angelina Marie (Ierardi).

They had a special love affair and never stopped being each other’s best friend and soulmate. Roger is also survived by his daughter Lisa Waters, her husband Brian Waters and their son Dylan of Salisbury, MA and his daughter Sheila Erickson, her husband Luke Erickson and their son’s Jack and Samuel of Centreville, VA. In addition to his love of family, Roger had many passions in life including horseback riding/jumping, riding his bicycle, hiking, gardening, and singing with the Paul Madore Chorale in Salem, MA.

Once retired, Roger also dedicated more than 15 years of volunteer service to the local literacy organizations assisting people of all ages with math tutoring in order to obtain their GEDs. His passion for math never ended and he loved teaching others how to master it. A funeral service will be held at Eustis and Cornell of Marblehead, 142 Elm Street, on Monday, December 17 at 11AM with burial to follow in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, December 16 from 1-4PM.
