Roger’s Obituary Roger Herman Hines, 81, of Texarkana, TX, died Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at his home. He was born September 28, 1937, in Texarkana, TX, and was retired from the City of Texarkana, TX, as Superintendent of Parks and Recreation. He was a former coach and teacher for the Liberty-Eylau School District, and was a founder of the flag football league in Liberty-Eylau.

He was a member of Walnut Church of Christ, the Texarkana Gun Club, and the N.R.A. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Philip B. Hines. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gayle Hines; three sons, Roger, Jr. (Rocky) Hines and wife, Karen Sue, Scott Hines and fiance, Leslie Matthews, and Kevin Hines and wife, Jill; one sister, Shirley Spakes and husband, Larry; sister-in-law, Linda McGregor; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 1, 2019, at Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas Chapel, with Jerry Monholland and Tommy Gaither officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 P.M. Sunday, March 31, 2019, at Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas.
