Obituary of Roger Anderson Roger E. Anderson, 92, of 220 Southwestern Dr. Lakewood, NY, passed away at 2:00 a.m. Monday, February 25, 2019, in UPMC Chautauqua. A lifelong area resident, he was born November 15, 1926 in Jamestown, NY, a son of the late Anders Elof and Lydia P. Seastrom Anderson. Roger was a graduate of Jamestown High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from March 21, 1944 to June 13, 1946, during World War II.

During his tour of duty he received the World War II Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal, and the American Theater Medal. Roger was involved in the automotive industry in Jamestown for over 50 years. He began his career working with the former Chadakoin Motors and then for A & B Texaco.

He also worked at car dealerships in Jamestown including the former Berglund Chevrolet and later for McFadden Ford, where he worked for 27 years. Before his retirement, he had owned and operated Roger Anderson Used Cars from 1983 to 1988. Roger was awarded membership in the Ford Motor Company’s Marketing Executive Guild.

He was a twelve year recipient of this prestigious award. He was a former member of the Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church and the American Scandinavian Heritage Foundation. He was also a member of the Mustang Club of America, and the Lake Erie Mustang Owners Club.

He will be remembered as one who loved taking care of his home and enjoyed family gatherings and woodworking. Surviving are his four children; Randy G. (Heidi) Anderson of Jamestown, NY, Todd S. (Sue) Anderson of Davidson, NC, Candice A. (Felix) Muzza of Webster, NY, Jay R. (Mina) Anderson of Jamestown, twelve grandchildren; Reed R. (Maggie) Anderson of Albany, NY, Erik S. (Marissa Kaler) Anderson of Columbus, GA, Sonya M. Anderson of Asheville, NC, Nora M. Anderson of New Haven, CT, Michael F. Muzza of Cincinnati, OH, Corinne L. (Jason) Gottfried of Fairport, NY, Matthew F. (Megan Zimmerman) Muzza of Annapolis, MD, Nolan Graves, Cooper Graves, Maya Edwards, Paige Edwards, Layla Edwards all of Sugar Grove, PA, eight great grandchildren, his sister, Thelma Brynolfson of Kenmore, NY, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Cheney Anderson whom he married July 9, 1949 and who died March 19, 2009, a sister, Hildegarde R. Sculley who died November 20, 2009 and a brother, Arthur W. “Red’ Anderson who died December 3, 1988.

The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Rick LaDue, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Webster, NY will officiate.

Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, two hours prior to the service in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Lakewood Memorial Library, 12 W. Summit St. Lakewood, NY 14750 or to the Lakewood Fire Department, 37 Packard Ave.
