Ronald Darwin Benefield Dec. 24, 1939 – Oct. 4, 2018 Brookings resident Ronald Darwin Benefield passed away on October 4, 2018 at the age of 78.

He was born December 24, 1939 at Collinsville, Alabama to Roland and Rosie (Simms) Benefield and grew up in Mobile. Ronald served his country in the United States Air Force, stationed at Anchorage, Alaska. Enroute there, he and Carol Sue Dean were married on November 20, 1959 at Chico, California.

Ronald is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol Benefield; his daughter Peggy Stephens and his three grandsons: Daren Heffley Jr., Travis Stephens and Christopher Stephens.

A graveside service will be held at noon on Saturday, October 13th at W. J. Ward Memorial Cemetery, 1035 7th Street, Brookings. Dr. Ken Whitted of First Baptist Community Church will officiate. Redwood Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
