Ronald “Ronnie” Galbraith, 69, of Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2018 at his home. Visitation will be 4:00-6:00 PM, Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 14, 2018, at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park, Carlsbad, New Mexico with Associate Pastor Kevin Pence officiating.

Interment will follow in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Ron Galbraith was born December 5, 1948 in Abilene, Texas to Roy Bell Galbraith, Jr. and Mildred O’Dell (Fox) Galbraith. The family moved to Carlsbad in 1965 and he graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1967.

Ron attended NMSU two years receiving an associates degree and later earned a bachelors degree from College of the Southwest. Ron worked for the Carlsbad Police Department for many years and finished his service as chief of police. He went to work for AECOM where he worked until retiring.

Ron developed a love for pole vaulting while coaching his nephew, Clint, and continued to coach pole vaulting for a number of years taking numerous boys to state track meets with several championships, Clint being his first. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; RB and Mildred Galbraith, sisters: Peggy, Paula and Patti; brother; Roy, nephew Scott Galbraith. He is survived by his wife: Glenda Galbraith; twin brother: Donnie Galbraith and wife Vickie; sisters in law: Phyllis Fuller and husband Bobby; Linda Durr and husband Leon and numerous loved nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Golden Services Hospice, 800 W. Pierce Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, or First Baptist Church, Music Ministry Fund, to 112 N. Alameda Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton- Wood Funeral is in charge of the arrangements.
