Roy Eugene’s Obituary Roy Eugene Box passed away on January 2, 2019 at his home in Bruce following an extended illness. Born on November 14, 1928 in the Mt. Moriah Community to William Terry Box and Roxie Pearl Brasher Box, Roy was 90.

Roy was skilled in many areas, especially when the job called for working with his hands. During his life, he mastered the trades of Electrician, Plumber, Welder, Mechanic, and Blacksmith. At one point in time, he could even count being a farmer.

Roy used all of his skills as the Maintenance Supervisor for the Calhoun County School District, a job in which he retired from. Appreciating unique ideas, Roy kept those hands busy with making crafts. As a lover of God’s creation, Roy also enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid deer hunter.

Additionally, Roy was a Mason for 69 years and a member of the Antioch Lodge. Roy leaves behind many family and friends after 90 fruitful years on earth and will be missed by all. Roy leaves behind his wife of 70 years, Betty June Russell Box of Bruce; Son, Ricky Eugene (Tracy) Box of Bruce; Daughter, June Box (Rowland) Smith of Bruce; Brother, Paul Box of Memphis; Grandchildren, Misty (Shane) Goodson, Shawn Shepard, Kelly (Mark) Gazaway, Cassidy (Caly) Box, Cody Box, Alex Box, Barrett Box, and Ashlyn Box; Great-Grandchildren, Forrest Hamilton, Hudson Hamilton, Sydney Stephan, Madison May, Sarah Erwin, Keegan Barfield, Gauge May, Sophie Shepard, and Cayden Box; and Great-Great, Grandchildren Zaiden Hamilton and Austin Cole Hamilton.

There will be a visitation with the family on Thursday Evening, January 3, 2019 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce. A funeral service honoring Roy’s life will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 starting at 11:00 am in the chapel of the funeral home. Brother Darrell Logan will officiate services, and will be assisted by Brother David Westmoreland.

Following funeral services, Roy will be laid to rest in Bruce Cemetery. Grandsons Keegan Barfield, Barrett Box, Cassidy Box, Cayden Box, Cody Box, Forrest Hamilton, Hudson Hamilton, Gauge May, and Shawn Shepard will all serve as Pallbearers. Roy was preceded in death by his parents; Brothers, Durant Box, Dean Box, Ray Box, and Hoyt Box; Sisters, Helen Williams, Hazel Snellings, Ora Mae Ferguson, and Floy Parker; and Grandson Jeremy Box.

Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce is honored to be entrusted by the family in helping to make arrangements honoring Roy’s life.
