Royal Joseph Abbott April 01, 1931 – February 11, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts Upload Photo| Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Royal Joseph Abbott was born to Rosa Leonora and George Nathan Abbott on April 1, 1931 in Bunkerville, Nevada. He was the ninth of eleven children including Brent Abbott, Hermese Thiess, Wesley Abbott, Maxine Mott, Max Abbott, Keith Abbott, Mary Johnson, Myron Abbott, David Abbott and Richard Abbott. He was raised in Bunkerville until the age of 14.

Then the family moved to Idaho and he started working on a farm with cows and grew sugar beets. In 1950, he enlisted in the Navy during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in April 1954. While he was on leave he met his sweetheart Patsy Lee Jones at a church dance and they were sealed in the Mesa Arizona Temple on June 19th 1953.

Together they raised their family in California and Arizona. Some of the things Roy enjoyed in his life were gardening, playing golf, and wood working. He loved flying and was a pilot for several years.

His Family was very important to him and he always enjoyed visiting with his siblings throughout the years. Royal passed away peacefully on the morning of February 11, 2019, surrounded by family members. Royal was a month and a half short of his 88th birthday.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Patsy Lee (Jones) Abbott, together they have two sons Wayne (Vicki), and Gary; and two daughters, his beloved Kay who preceded him in death (Darrell), and Julie (Andy); and four of his siblings, Mary, Myron, Keith and Richard; eighteen grandchildren, fifty-three great grandchildren; and one great, great grandchild. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the funeral at 9:00 AM on Saturday, June 16, 2019. The funeral will be at 10:00 AM in the Love Lake Chapel in Taylor, 700 E. Love Lake Rd, Taylor, Arizona, 85939.

Interment will immediately follow at the R.V. “Mike” Ramsay Memorial Cemetery in Snowflake, Arizona.
