Obituary for Ruby Mefford Hopper Ruby Mefford Hopper, 90, of Carlinville, IL passed away Monday, January 7, 2019 at her home in Carlinville, IL with her daughters by her side. She was born March 14, 1928 to Earl and Mary Jane (Lee) Mefford in Carlinville, IL. She married James L. “Gus” Hopper on June 20, 1947 and he preceded her in death in 2002.

She was an honor graduate of Carlinville High School and spent her working career as a secretary for Country Companies Insurance, Schein Equipment, and a bookkeeper for Konneker Brown. Ruby was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, and she loved to read, collect cat figurines and collectables, and care for her pets from rescue shelters. Most of all, she loved being a proud mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She was a great cook and loved having family for holidays and birthdays. She is preceded in death by her husband, and son, Jim Hopper in 2005. Survivors include; her 2 daughters, Kathy Jim) Knetzer of Carlinville, IL, Karyl (Tony McKinney) Stratton of Springfield, IL; 2 granchildren, Kris (Katie) Knetzer of St. Louis, MO, Kara (Glen) Hoette of Chesterfield, MO; and 2 great grandchildren, Tyson Hoette and Coraline Knetzer.
