Obituary for Rupert Arnold Hays Rupert Arnold Hays age 80 of San Antonio died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, May 10, 2018. He was born July 10, 1937 to Guy and Celia Hays in Port Arthur, Texas. In addition to his parents, Rupert is preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Hays Franklin.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sue Ellen Knight Hays; son, Steven Hays and his wife, Randall; sisters, Janice Hays Crockett and her husband, Garland and Ellen Hays Troup and her husband, Jan; son-in-law, Christopher Franklin; grandchildren, Erica Kimble and her husband, Justin, Brooke, Liam, Hunter, Ainslee and her husband, Basil and Taylor; great grandchildren, Charlotte and Benjamin Kimble; uncle, Fred Chatelain and his wife, Barbara; nephew, David Knight and his wife, Tracy; niece, Margie Abshire and her husband, Dwain. Rupert served in the U.S. Army in the 101st Airborne. He was a Mortgage Banker and was a former Chairman of the Board of Directors of St. Mary’s University.

He was an active member of Oak Hills Church serving in the Hospital Ministry. He had a passion for hunting, fishing, tennis, golf, snow skiing and hanging out with his family. One of the highlights of his life was traveling to Jerusalem.

SERVICES A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Oak Hills Church, 19595 IH 10 West.
