Russ’ Obituary Russ Whyte, 75, of Marshall, MO, died Monday, May 13, 2019, in Marshall. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Marshall with Rev. David VanHorn and William W. Harlow officiating.

Inurnment will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery. A memorial visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the church. Memorials are suggested to Covenant Presbyterian Church in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home.

An online guestbook is available at www. campbell-lewis.com Born October 11, 1943 in Waukegan, IL, he was the son of the late Harry Whyte and Ada Margaret Wightman Whyte. Russ was raised in Illinois and was a 1961 graduate of Elgin High School in Elgin, IL.

He moved to Marshall in 1961, to attend Missouri Valley College, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in 1965, and later earned his master’s degree from University of Central Missouri. On July 11, 1965 he married Donna R. Jackson who survives of the home. Russ taught high school in Sweet Springs for four years and then at Marshall High School for over 30 years, where he also coached wrestling and track.

For many years, he was one of the announcers for Marshall High School football games. After retiring, Russ taught as an adjunct instructor at Missouri Valley College. He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his wife, Donna, he is survived by three sons: Steve Whyte (Michelle) of Marshall, Bill Whyte (Tiffany) of Palmyra, VA, and Scott Whyte of Marshall; five grandchildren: Amber, Kayla, Tyler, Emmalyn, and Lizzy; one great-granddaughter, Kamdynn; one sister, Judy Sorden (Mike) of Geneva, IL; one brother, Harry Whyte of Marshall; as well as nieces and nephews. Russ was preceded in death by his parents and one great-granddaughter, Braylee Frock.
