OBITUARY Russell Archer March 31, 1938 – September 20, 2018 Russell Berry Archer, age 80, of Cartersville, GA, passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2018. Mr. Archer was born on March 31, 1938 in Rome, GA, son of the late Simeon Lanier Archer, Jr. and Martha Jane Berry Archer. Mr. Archer and his wife, Daneise enjoyed working together at their company, Arco Ideas and Design for thirty-nine years.

He was a true and faithful servant of the Lord and an active, life-long member of Sam Jones Memorial United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Chancel Choir for over fifty years, the Pairs & Spares SS class and served on several boards and committees. Mr. Archer was the campaign chairman for the Georgia YMCA Bartow Chapter for many years. He was a sporting enthusiast and enjoyed fly fishing, bass fishing, golf, tennis, basketball, sporting clays and hunting.

Mr. Archer served his country in the United States Army, stationed in Germany. Mr. Archer was preceded in death by his brothers, Simeon Lanier Archer, III and Julian Andrew Archer. Survivors include his loving wife of almost forty years, Daneise Hubert Archer; beloved daughters, Angela (Sam) Shropshire and Rebecca (John) Rhodes; he was a loving father figure to Michael Hubert, Daneise’s younger brother; grandchildren, Savannah Berry Bosley, Jessie Nichole Bosley, Cameron Archer Rhodes, Hannah Catherine Rhodes; step-grandchildren, John Shropshire, Jr. and Madi Shropshire; brother, David Gordon (Ellen) Archer; sisters-in-laws, Betty Archer and Julia Archer; nieces and nephews, Beth (Roger) Kendricks, Julie (Mark) Morrill, Lanier (Amy) Archer, IV, Benjamin Archer, Jann (Rob) Rice, Kay Woodson, Bradley (Jennifer) Archer, Margaret (Erik) Zimmer, David (Amy) Archer, Jr., Catherine Archer, William (Beth) Archer, Mary Ellen (Brian) Lighthiser and Martha Jane Archer.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 23rd of September, 2018 at Sam Jones Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Kevin Lobello and Rev. Nena Jones officiating.

Interment will immediately follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family Saturday the 22nd of September, 2018 from four o’clock in the afternoon until seven o’clock in the evening at Owen Funeral Home. In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial donations may be made to Sam Jones Memorial United Methodist Church Building Fund or the Etowah Scholarship Foundation.
