Ruth’s Obituary Ruth E. Anschau, 93, of Wind Gap, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 16, 2019 in Waldon III. She was the loving wife of Martin Anschau who passed away in 2013 Born February 1, 1926 in Plainfield Township, she was a daughter of the late John and Rosa Achenbach Itterly. Ruth graduated from Pen Argyl High School and Churchman’s Business School.

She worked as a seamstress for Valerie Fashions before retiring. She was a member of Hope UCC in Wind Gap where she taught Sunday School for 40 years and was active in “My Brother’s Keeper” Group, sewing material into warm sleeping bags for the homeless. She also spent countless hours crafting pillow cases into beautiful dresses for little girls in Africa and Haiti.

Ruth shared her knowledge of sewing by teaching Adult Education classes as well as 4-H Groups for many years, and was also known to be a dedicated potato peeler for the church suppers. Ruth is survived by 1 son, David Anschau and his wife Vicki of Scotrun; 2 daughters, Desiree Anschau of Hawaii, and Denise Trite and husband Randy of Blandon; 2 grandchildren, Adam and Megan Trite; and nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by 2 sisters and 3 brothers.

Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Friday, February 22, 2019 from 1:30-2:30 pm in Hope UCC, 701 Cherry St. Wind Gap. The funeral service will begin at 2:30 pm with Pastor Darlene Blocker presiding. Ruth will be laid to rest in Wind Gap Cemetery.

Memorials in Ruth’s name may be offered to the church, PO Box, 425, Wind Gap PA, 18091. Arrangements are under the care of the Schmidt Funeral Home PC, Wind Gap.
