Ruth E. Braden residing in South Bend, passed away at 9:32 pm Monday, June 25, 2018 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. She was born March 25, 1922 in South Bend to the late Edmund and Cecil (Wells) Zimmerman, and remained a lifelong area resident. Ruth grew up in the River Park neighborhood of South Bend and graduated from Riley High School in 1940.

On March 29, 1942 in South Bend, Ruth married Junior Theodore “Ted” Braden, who preceded her in death on October 5, 2003 after 61 years of marriage. Ruth is survived by her son, Terry D. (Sue) Braden of Edwardsburg, MI; daughter, Barbara Braden of North Hollywood, CA; grandson, Christopher (Michelle) Braden of South Bend; granddaughter, Jennifer Braden of Edwardsburg, MI; great granddaughter, Gabrielle Braden; and great grandson, Jase Braden. She was preceded in death by her son, John E. Braden in March 2013; and her brother and sister-in-law, Don and Alberta Zimmerman.

Ruth was a lifelong member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, South Bend. She and Ted also belonged to three trailer clubs and enjoyed many years of traveling in caravans and to rallies. They spent several years wintering in Arizona and Texas, but for 28 years between 1983 and 2012, they wintered in the Holiday Travel Resort in Leesburg, FL.

Memorial services for Ruth will be held at 11:00 am Friday, June 29, 2018 in the Palmer Funeral Home – Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend. Sher Wolf, of First Church of Christ, Scientist, will officiate. Immediately following, inurnment will take place in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.

Friends may visit with the family from 9:00 – 11:00 am Friday in the funeral home prior to services. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Ruth may be donated to the First Church of Christ, Scientist, 1801 S. Ironwood Drive, South Bend, IN 46613.
