Obituary for S. Jackson “Jack” Hunt RICHMOND, Ind. – S. Jackson “Jack” Hunt, age 97, of Richmond, Indiana, died Saturday, January 5, 2019, at Reid Health. Born September 24, 1921, in Richmond, Indiana, to Howard Charles and Erma Bockhoff Hunt, Jack was a life-long resident of Richmond.

He was a 1939 graduate of Ashville School in North Carolina and graduated in 1943 with a mechanical engineering degree from Cornell University. Jack served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He was Vice-President of NATCO (National Automatic Tool Company).

Jack served as president of the Council Executive Board from 1962 to 1965 and earned the Award of the Silver Beaver in 1968 for distinguished service to the Whitewater Valley Council, Inc., Boy Scouts of America. He served on the board of the Second National Bank of Richmond, Central Broadcasting Company (WKBV), Y.M.C.A. , Sunrise Therapeutic Riding Center, Wayne County 4-H, and Indiana Science Foundation.

Jack was a long-time, active member of First Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed playing golf and loved fishing, hiking, camping, canoeing, and animals, especially dogs. Survivors include his daughter, Deborah H. (William) Danner of Zionsville, Indiana; sons, Howard C. (Nancy) Hunt II of Illinois and Stuart J. (Rhonda) Hunt Jr. of Florida; daughter-in-law, Sally Hunt of California; granddaughters, Kristine Shifflette, Sarah Huisman, Karen Skinner, Nancy Hunt, and Sarah Moore Lauterbach; seven great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends, including his loyal, four-legged companion, Hobie.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Beverly Ritchey Hunt, who died October 13, 2010; son, Geoffrey Craig Hunt; two sisters; and one brother. Private graveside service for S. Jackson “Jack” Hunt was held at Elkhorn Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
