Mrs. Sakina Pinkney was born July 16, 1979, to then Ms. Mary Miller and Rufus Reese. She transitioned from this life after a long bout with cancer of the colon, ovaries and liver, at her home, from this life on February 4, 2019. She accepted Jesus Christ at a young age.

She was soft in voice and eager to help others to gain a relationship with Jesus Christ. She fought the good fight of faith unto the end. She professed a good profession for Christ.

She was a founding member and served as the First Lady of Gospel of Grace Ministries, where her husband Pastor Corey Pinkney served as Pastor. She loved praising and worshipping God in songs and praise. She was a loving wife and devoted to her family.

She graduated from West End High School. She also earned her Master’s Degree in Nursing from Stillman College, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She was currently employed at Birmingham Veterans Hospital, where she was well liked and loved as a Registered Nurse.

She was a two time winner of the Nursing Daisy Award in the City of Birmingham, Alabama. She was previously employed at St. Vincent’s Hospital Birmingham, where she was employed 10 years. She leaves to cherish her memory a loving husband of 11 years: Pastor Corey M. Pinkney; children: Cristin Joyce Pinkney (10), Rodreckus Braxton (18), Marissa Wallace (18), Kiara E. Jackson (21), and JoCoery M. Jackson (21); parents, father: Rufus Reese; mother: Mary A. Sherod; step-father: Carl Sherod; mother-in-law: Brenda Pinkney; father-in-law: Thomas Thornton, Jr.; brother: Damarcus Jackson; sister-in-law: Bridget Pinkney; and a host of close family, friends and co-workers.
