Sandra (Sandy) Lou Winchester Tetrault age 65 from Dalton, NH went to be with the angels and her Dad on May 15th at Littleton Regional Healthcare after fighting a courageous battle with cancer for the past 15 months Sandra was born February 22, 1953 in Woodsville, NH at the old Cottage Hospital. She was the daughter of Claude and Elsina Winchester and sister Laurie Winchester Woolson. She was raised In Massachusetts where she attended Algonquin High School.
Sandra worked at Frye shoe and met the father of her three children. Later she moved to NH where she raised her children. Through the years she worked at the local shoe shops, DCI, New England Wire, Hitchners, Red Coach Inn, and Walmart in Littleton and Woodsville until her retirement.
Sandra was very vocal and really enjoyed telling people how it was with no filter. Through her short stay in the nursing home the LNAs really enjoyed the visits to her room just so they could hear her stories and have a good laugh. One of her favorite enjoyments in life was to go fishing with her Dad and playing cards and board games with her sister but never let her win.
One of her other hobbies was doing ceramics and working on unfinished crochet projects. Some of her favorite TV programs was the cooking shows, crime show dramas, and the singing competition shows. She could make us all laugh until we cried and look at us enough to say what are you laughing at.
She is predeceased by her Dad Claude Winchester 2008 and predeceased by her great nephew Trent 2003. Survived by her three children, daughter Joanna Tetrault and partner Edwin Camley of Burlington, VT, daughter Janice and husband Vince Dimick of Bethlehem, NH and son Ernest Tetrault and fiancé Robin Hobbs. Her 8 grandchildren, Chase, Travis, Tyler, Christopher, Dylan, Miranda, Cameron, and Payton.
Her 10 great grandchildren, her sister Laurie Woolson and husband Mickey Woolson of Lyman NH, in her words her “beautiful nieces” Melanie Millette and partner Ryan Choate, Melinda Millette and partner Bill Covey, her great nephew Trey and great niece Emily, and lots of cousins that loved her dearly, many Aunts and Uncles and her best friend Anne. Sandra was brought to her weekly chemo appointments by her sister Laurie. She never left her sister’s side through the many months of her fighting the disease.
Laurie would go to the nursing home every day to be by Sandy’s side. They would share stories and laugh together while they reminisced. Sandra would always tell the nursing staff, “ask my sister”.
That was her famous line. Sandra knew how much love her sister had for, and she was comfortable knowing her sister was the one taking care of her. Sandra’s oldest daughter spent many weekends at the nursing home with her mom.
Joanna would be Sandy’s private “nurse”. She always referred to Joanna as “her rock”. Sandra enjoyed having her great-nephew, Trey, come visit.
She would make him giggle when she would cheat playing cards or when she would harass him about being a “wiggle butt”. She always made jokes about the bag of snacks he had with him when he visited her and she never understood why he wasn’t 300lbs. Sandra was a special woman that touched many lives and will be missed by all.
Travis Davis will lead a Committal Service on June 8th at 2pm at Cushman Cemetery in Dalton.
