On Wednesday, October 10th, 2018, God called Sandy Schalk, age 53, one of his Angels home to be with Him. She was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania on September 24th, 1965, daughter of Della-Ann Schalk & the late, Rev Donald J. Schalk. In addition to her mother Della-Ann, Sandy is survived by two siblings, Donald J. Schalk, Jr. & his wife, Tammy of Dover, PA & Eloise A. Casterline & her husband, Darryl of Orlean, VA; nephew, Terry Cromer; three nieces and their spouses, Nikki Myers and husband John, Elizabeth Casterline and husband David & Eileen Casterline; and six grandnieces & nephews.

Sandy was loved and adored by her family. While she was not able to speak words, the sparkle in her eyes revealed the love she felt for her devoted mother. She attended Broome County ARC/ACHIEVE day program in New York State for 28 years and was known as Dolly.

There she stole the hearts of her peers and staff and was well known for her elaborate Halloween costumes her mother made. Sandy was loved by those who cared for her at the Loder Ave home in Endicott, NY where she resided for 17 years before moving to VA in October 2015. Once in Virginia she brought joy to those who cared for her at Culpeper and Brookside Rehabilitation and Nursing Care facilities the past three years.

Sandy will be sorely missed but all who knew her realize that she has been welcomed to her eternal home in heaven and is at peace. The family will accept visitors at Moser Funeral Home, 233 Broadview Ave. , Warrenton, VA from 10 until the service begins at 11 am on Friday, October 19th, 2018.

Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memory Gardens. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to International Rett Syndrome Foundation, 4600 Devitt Dr., Cinncinatti, OH 45246.
