Mr. Sanford Eugene Steelman, 70, of Mocksville, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2018, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Rowan County on December 5, 1947, the son of the late Luther S. and Mary Lou Cooper Steelman. He was a machinist and worked for Ingersoll Rand for 28 years.

Mr. Steelman leaves behind two sons, Billy Joe Steelman (Angie) of Atlanta, TX and Matthew Wayne Steelman (Kathy Hill) of Mocksville; one daughter, Teresa Whitaker (Gerald) of Mocksville; one brother, Jimmy Steelman (Rena) of Madison; four sisters: Doris Houston, Colleen McCubbins, Phyllis Stratton and Tammy Scoggins, all of Salisbury; eight grandchildren: Candie, Joe, Crissy, Gerald, Austin, Lane, Karri and Mallory; plus four great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 Wednesday, October 3, at Davie Funeral Chapel. The Celebration of Life Service will be conducted in the funeral chapel at 11:00 AM Thursday with Pastor David Gilbreath and Pastor Darrell Cox officiating.

Interment will follow in Rowan Memorial Park in Salisbury. Serving as Pallbearers will be Billy, Matt, Joe and Lane Steelman and Gerald and Austin Whitaker. Arrangements are under the direction of Davie Funeral Service.
