Obituary for Scott Spencer Scott John Spencer, 34, a resident of Las Cruces, New Mexico, passed away on March 22, 2018 in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he had gone to play in a pinball tournament. Scott was born September 5, 1983, in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Scott attended school in both Las Cruces and Tempe, Arizona, graduating from Corona Del Sol High School in Tempe.

He then attended New Mexico State University pursuing degrees in both History and German. Scott obtained both degrees in 2007, but his first love was the German Language. After graduation Scott taught German at Deming High School in Deming, New Mexico, where his students loved and respected him and playfully referred to him as Herr Spencer.

In addition to classroom teaching, Scott also had a position in sales. He was married to Valerie Hillis from 2008 to 2017. Scott is survived by his mother and stepfather Katy and Malcolm Truman of Chandler, Arizona; his father and stepmother James and Jan Spencer of El Paso, Texas; his brother Allen Spencer of El Paso, Texas; his sisters Karen Telles of Tempe, Arizona, and Angela Bearden of Redstone, Colorado; his brother Nick Chermela of Flat Rock, North Carolina, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews all of whom adored Scott.
