Obituary for Don White Don James White September 13, 1935 – July 4, 2018 Don James White of Las Cruces, New Mexico passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at the age of 82. Don was born September 13, 1935 in Arkansas City, Kansas. He graduated from high school in Fort Worth, Texas, and married his high school sweetheart, Sheila Shows, in 1953.

Together they had three children: Christine Lynn, Leslie Jo and Jodie Scott; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. He served as a paratrooper in the United States Army and went on to have an impressive career working in Nuclear Physics and retired from White Sands Missile Range. Don enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, including camping, fishing, boating, sports cars and motorcycles, but his greatest passion was New Mexico History.

He traveled every inch of his beloved state and eventually designed and built his own cabin in the Apache National Forest with help from friends and family. In keeping with Don’s wishes, no funeral services will be held. No flowers, please feel free to donate in Don’s honor to your favorite charity.
