Obituary for Patti Burns (Mardis) Patti Fae Mardis Burns, 87, born November 6, 1930 and died September 27, 2018 in Hatch, New Mexico. Patti Burns was born on November 6, 1930 in Clovis, New Mexico to Homer and Ione Mardis. Patti grew up on the family farm in Muleshoe, Texas and later moved to Clovis, New Mexico.

Patti married Gene Roy Buns in 1952; together they had five children. Patti Burns lived a full life as mother, homemaker, and working in various fields. She retired from NMSU in 2005.

She enjoyed spending time with family and her dog Amanda. Patti was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Ione Mardis, husband, Gene Burns, son Garry Burns, daughters, Leigh Davis, and Donna Cunningham. She is survived by two sons, Larry Burns of Las Cruces, New Mexico and Lloyd Burns of Hatch, New Mexico.
