Obituary for Nina Mae Holden (McCasland) Nina Mae Holden Nina Mae Holden of Caballo, New Mexico, passed away on November 20, 2018, at the age of 82, with her loved ones by her side. Nina was born in Atoka, Oklahoma, on April 13, 1936, to Hayden D. and Willa Mae (Taylor) McCasland. Nina made her way to the desert she loved via Dallas after graduating from Atoka High School.

Hewlett-Packard was graced with her expertise, personality and exceptional memory. She retired from Hewlett-Packard after 18 years. After 5 years at home Nina found her next love with The Girls Scouts of America for the next 19 years.

“Mrs. Nina” donned the green uniform and helped many young girl scouts and leaders throughout Dona Ana County. After retiring in 2006, Nina and Jerral moved to Caballo, New Mexico where they could be closer to their hobbies and their love of the outdoors. While Justin was her only biological son, Nina nurtured and guided many young adults, including her beloved niece Synthia Campbell, who resided within the family home for several years.

She opened her home to anyone and everyone who needed a warm meal, a clean bed and a hug. There was always a home cooked meal on the stove, open chair at the table and a mother’s love and guidance. Nina loved to cook and enjoyed feeding the many that came through her doors.

Nina’s pride and joy were her family. She loved her granddaughters to the moon and back, but her Great Grandsons raised the sun. She lived everyday to see these boys in person or via text pictures, Snapchat, Facebook or Facetime.

Her day was not complete until she got to see these boys. Nina was met at heavens gates by her Father Hayden McCasland, Mother Willa Mae McCasland, Sister Alice Presson and her Daughter Renee Tharp. Nina left here on earth her beloved husband of 45 years, Jerral Holden, Caballo, New Mexico; her son Justin Tharp and daughter-in-law Dina, Las Cruces, NM; her two granddaughters Cheyenne Molinar and husband Kurtis, San Antonio, Texas; Dakota Lopez and husband Greg, Las Cruces, NM and two great grandson’s, Kason Molinar and Braxton Lopez, her sister Sharon Shokat of Norman, Oklahoma, her brother Hayden McCasland and wife Jean of Norman, Oklahoma, along with a number of loved ones, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends and of course her beloved dog Grace Rae.
