Obituary for William Donald Kingsley WILLIAM DONALD KINGSLEY Don was called by his Heavenly Father on June 9, 2018. Born in West Orange, New Jersey on August 12, 1934, son of William Sage Kingsley and Dorothy Woodworth Kingsley. His early education was in New Jersey until his father was transferred to Illinois.
Don attended high school in Evanston, Illinois and graduated Class of 1952 Freeport High School, Freeport, Illinois. He chose Civil Engineering studies at Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois. He was a member of the Naval ROTC and Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity, serving as President of the fraternity in his senior year.
He graduated in June 1957 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, was commissioned LTJG in the US Navy and served on the USS Tweedy, Destroyer Escort 532 from July 1957 to July 1959 as Engineering Officer. He met his wife, the love of his life, Barbara, nee Palicke, Northwestern Class of 1958; they were married in April of 1959. Barbara and Don settled in Denver, Colorado after his Naval discharge in July 1959.
He worked for A.A. and E.B. Jones Construction Company building Abraham Lincoln High School in Denver. The next move was to Houston, Texas in 1961. Don worked on the northwest quadrant of Highway 610 that loops around Houston.
In 1963, Don was hired by Sverdrup Corporation, Architects and Engineers, St. Louis, Missouri, to build the Anheuser Busch Brewery in Houston, Texas. In 1966, he was transferred to the main office in St. Louis and continued his career for the next thirty years, eventually becoming a Vice-President of that worldwide corporation now known as Jacobs Engineering. During those years, Don travelled the world from Egypt to Thailand, Saudi Arabia to Peru, contributing to the success to many international projects.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, their four daughters; Anne Kingsley (Larry) Elizabeth Leavitt (husband Arthur), Mary Clements (Tracy), Carol Kingsley (David); 6 grandchildren, Emilie Leavitt, Nicole Clements, Alexandra Foret, Miles Foret, Alina McEvoy, and Patrick McEvoy; his sister, Dorothy Brown. Infant daughter, Susan, predeceased him. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Fr.
Ricardo Hinojal, O. A. R. on October 26, 2018 at San Jose de Picacho Catholic Mission at 10:00 am. Location 3135 Old Picacho Rd, Las Cruces, NM 88007. A reception will immediately follow in the parish hall.
