Obituary for Eloise P Taylor Eloise Taylor passed away on November 5, 2018 at the age of 102. She was born on September 25, 1916 in McComb, Oklahoma, the oldest child of Virgil Welrose (VW) Peacock and Anna Parks Peacock. She is survived by her daughter Pam Brosius, son Ron (Sherrie) and son Bob (Sherry).

She is also survived by her grandchildren Stacey Clark (Steve), James Brosius (Breana), Doug Taylor (Jeff), Josh Taylor (Lori), Scott Taylor (Monica), Tiffany Dial (Roger), Leslie Melton, and many great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. Eloise was preceded in death by her parents V.W. and Anna, her husband of 57 years L.B. Taylor, her younger siblings, Leroy, Juanita Eyer, Allison, Howard and Donald. Also preceding her in death were two grandsons, Brian Taylor and Mike Taylor.

After eight years of teaching school in Oklahoma her father bought a dry goods store in McComb where Eloise, Leroy, Juanita and Allison were born. In 1924 he went to Las Cruces, New Mexico to visit his sister Amy and her family. He saw great potential in the Hatch Valley, so he moved there in 1926.

He built the first brick store in that town and moved his family into the back of the dry goods store where they lived for ten years. While there Howard and Donald were born. That store still stands and is the dining room for Sparky’s Restaurant.

After ten years at the store and because of the Great Depression the family sold the store and built a house on a farm on the Las Cruces highway south of town across the road from Rodey. Eloise graduated from Hatch High School in 1933 and lettered in basketball while there. She went to work for the owner/publisher of the only newspaper in Hatch.

It was owned by the city clerk, so she kept the books for the city. Eloise always wanted to be a teacher, so she started summer school at the Teacher’s College in Silver City at the age of 17. When she got her teaching certificate she taught at the Salem, NM school for four years.

That first teaching job started a 31-year career as a teacher in the Dona Ana County school system and in Carlsbad, Sierra Blanca, Texas and Odessa, Texas. During World War II Eloise earned her B.S. Degree majoring in Elementary Education with a minor in Art and English. She taught Art at Lynn Junior High for her last 17 years when she retired 1978.

The family would like to thank the nurses, CNA’s and staff at the Village at Northrise, Morningside. The family appreciates the care the Hospice nurses from Mesilla Valley Hospice gave to her towards the end of her life A great thanks to Leo and Missy, care givers for Help at Home LLC. They were with her during her three years and treated her like family.

She will be greatly missed by everyone whose life she touched. At her request, cremation has taken place with no service to be held. Arrangements by Getz Funeral Home, corner of Solano and Bowman Ave.
