Obituary for Raymundo Jimenez Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day… Unseen, unheard but always near. Still loved, still missed and very dear. After his 22 year battle and dialysis Ray was peacefully called home on September 2, 2018.

Born to Sotero Jimenez and Mercedes Villa on November 11, 1961, in Canutillo, TX. Peanut as he was known to many, spent his younger years living in Planada, CA where he was loved and cared for by his loving aunt Socorro Martinez and family. Upon his return to Las Cruces Peanut was a self-made man owner of Ray’s services landscaping.

A loving father, son, brother, godfather, uncle, and friend. A devoted Dallas Cowboys fan. Peanut is survived by a daughter Alicia “pumpkin” Jimenez her partner Reymundo Lugo, three sons Ray Jr, Enrique and Joseph Jimenez all of Las Cruces.

His mother Mercedes Castaneda. Four sisters Elena husband Gilbert Diaz, Jessica husband Jerry Gallegos all of Las Cruces. Aurora husband Benito Lopez of Phoenix, AZ and Celia Villa of Juarez.

Two brothers Jorge Castaneda of Las Cruces and Nicholas Castaneda. A half-sister Lupe Jimenez of Phoenix, AZ. Three granddaughters Andrea Lugo, Layla, and Alicia Jimenez one grandson Ray III Jimenez all of Las Cruces, NM.

Including a godson numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Peanut was preceded in death by his father Sotero Jimenez, paternal grandparents and maternal grandparents. Honorary bearers will be Ray Jr and Enrique, and Joseph Jimenez, Gilbert Jr, and Isaac Diaz, Ruben Valdez and Benny Jr. Lopez.

Visitation for Peanut will be held at Getz funeral home on Friday, September 14, 2018, from 11 am to 1 pm. A rosary will follow 1 pm and funeral liturgy to follow at 1:30 pm pastor Priscilla Hernandez officiating. Cremation will take place at a later date.
