Scott Olin Lutz, age 59, of Nebo, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at The Laurels of Summit Ridge in Asheville. The son of the late Stuart Allen Lutz and Mary Frances Brown Eggmyer, he was born in Red Bud, Illinois on July 15, 1959. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Mae Hearn Lutz, who passed away on September 24, 2007.

Scott, who enjoyed listening to music, was an avid Kentucky Wildcats and Duke fan. He was a ham radio operator who was known as “bull shifter” and was a veteran of the United States Navy and United States Coast Guard. Mr. Lutz is survived by his three children, Glenn Allen Lutz and his fiancé, Tabbetha Faith Sherlin, Carol Ann Lutz Belton and her husband, Chris and Scott Anthony Lutz and his wife, Kaitlin “KK”; one step son, Darrell A. Hearn and his wife, Hannah; one brother, Steve Eggers and his wife, Cathy; and half-sister, Darlene Torres.

Scott is also survived by his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, Mia Judith Lutz and Shelby Mae Belton; three step grandchildren, Courtney Danielle Hearn, Allison Sydney Hearn and Abbigail Rose Hearn; and a number of nieces and nephews. A private celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
