Chet Barlow, age 48, of Morganton passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 12, 2019 while at his home. He was born in Burke County on February 7, 1971 to Charles and Mildred Carswell Barlow. Chet was a true outdoors country boy, which earned him the nickname South Mountain Hillbilly.

He had a passion for coin collecting, and valued the art of gold paining. He also enjoyed riding four wheelers, and loved animals. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Janet Clontz Bush of the home; his parents, Charlie and Mildred Barlow of Morganton; two stepsons, Joshua Bush and wife Jessica of Portland, Oregon, and Jesses Bush of Morganton; and two step-grandsons, Vincent and Wyatt Bush.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Sunnyside Baptist Church in Morganton at 1358 Old NC 18, Morganton, NC 28655. The memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with his father Rev. Charlie Barlow officiating.
