Joyce M. Cranford, age 92, of Marion, North Carolina passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Mission Hospital-McDowell with her loving family by her side. A native of Yancey County, Joyce was born on July 30, 1926 to Cass and Ella Roberts Thomas. Joyce was a longtime member of Nealsville Church of God.

She loved working in her flower garden and loved the beauty of God’s creation. She planted her last flower bed at her earthly home and will see the flowers come up in heaven. She was a loving mother and grandmother, although they know where she is, she will be missed greatly by her family.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of seventy-two years, James J. Cranford; two children, Linda C. Seagle (J. Harold) and Tommy Cranford (Kathy Shell) and one sister, Willa Mae Whitson. Also surviving Joyce are four grandchildren, Mark Seagle (Kaye), Aaron Cranford (Yasnaia), Matthew Cranford (Brandy) and Melanie Cranford; and seven great-grandchildren, Andrew, Ethan, Ian, Lilly, Logan, Taylor and Summer.

A funeral service to celebrate Joyce’s life will take place on Friday, March 8, 2019 at 3:oo p.m. at Nealsville Church of God with Reverends Doug Carpenter, Travis Cooke and Walter Page officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will take place following the service at the Nealsville Church of God Cemetery.
