OBITUARY Sharon M. Hayes February 7, 1946 – October 11, 2018 Sharon Marie Hayes, 72, of Raytown, MO passed away at Brookdale Nursing Facility on October 11, 2018. Visitation will be held at McGilley & Sheil Funeral Home 11924 E. 47 St. Kansas City, MO 64133 from 6-8 pm on Tuesday October 16. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday October 17 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11300 W. 103 St. Overland Park, KS 66214 with burial following at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge Road, Raytown, MO 64138.

Sharon was born on February 7, 1946 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota to Maurice and Bernadine Geraghty. She moved to the Kansas City area with her family as a child and lived in the area ever since. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School and Donnelly College.

She was a longtime customer service supervisor in the medical supply industry until her retirement. She loved sewing and crafts, but mostly she loved doing things with and for her family, as she was a completely selfless wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She met and married the love of her life Stephen Hayes on May 22, 1970.

Together they raised 3 daughters, Karen Williamson (Tim), Jennifer Owens (Patrick), and Kathleen Torres. She had 8 grandchildren, David, Joshua, and Ben Williamson; Danny and Ana Torres; and Lindsey, Joseph, and Christopher Owens. She was preceded in death by her husband Stephen Hayes and her parents, Maurice and Bernadine Geraghty.

Survivors include her siblings Maureen Wheeler, Kathleen O’Neill, Theresa Sullivan, and Shawn Geraghty. Memorial contributions can be made to Kansas City Hospice House or Catholic Charities.
