Sharon M. McNamee, age 53, of Hull, MA, passed away on April 24, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was comforted and surrounded by her many friends and family members during her final days and hours. She was truly adored.
Sharon was predeceased by her mother, Rita D. (Shields) McNamee. She is survived by her father, Robert G. McNamee, brothers Robert F., Thomas R., William E., Richard F., and Francis C. McNamee. She is also survived by sisters Keri A. McNamee and Dyanne M. Small, in addition to their spouses and significant others.
Sharon is also survived by many neices, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, and her countless beloved friends whom she had the privilege of meeting and knowing throughout her life. Though there are too many to mention individually, Sharon’s extended family and friends were a tremendous presence and influence in her life. Sharon lived her life with a sincere sense of compassion, energy, and adventure which contributed to the development of her warm and sweet personality, which she displayed on a regular basis throughout her life.
Sharon had the distinct honor and privilege to have been a key member of her “other family”, the Hull High Marching Pirates. This well-known and respected group of her fellow students, teachers, parents and supporters played a major role in Sharon’s life, right up to her last days on earth. For a number of years, Sharon was able to spread her wings and share her unforgettable charm and personality all over the states of Florida and New York.
Sharon returned to her family and her early childhood friends when she came home to Hull in the fall of 2016. We were all fortunate to have Sharon among us again. Sharon was a very deep and complex woman and was very passionate about her many interests.
Sharon had a profound interest in and appreciation for the arts. She worked in the arts while in Florida and New York and her work allowed her to rub elbows with many celebrities over the years. Sharon took pleasure in reading, as well as, perhaps her true passion, writing.
Sharon spent a significant amount of time writing about her life experiences and corresponding with close friends and family. Sharon also enjoyed the outdoors, including nature walks, gardening, and walks along Nantasket beach. Sharon enjoyed following her favorite Boston sports teams, including the Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins.
Sharon had a deep love for animals, including her childhood German Shepherd Heidi, her cat Seth, and her recent cat Phoebe. Sharon was also very charitable, and cared deeply for the disadvantaged, or the “under dog”. Sharon’s kindness and compassion, her unmistakable love for her family and friends, and her infectious smile and sweet voice will be cherished memories for all who knew her.
A graveside tribute to Sharon’s life will take place at the Hull Village cemetery on Sunday, May 20 at 11 AM. All family and friends are respectfully invited and encouraged to attend.
